Mt Feathertop

The view from Mt Feathertop last Saturday.

Got a rather painful lesson in how quickly the weather can change the next day. When these photos were taken at sunset on Saturday the weather was just serene. Even on the summit it was completely still and I could hear the other folks I was with talking to each other from hundreds of meters away. The next morning we woke up to a gale. The temperature had fallen to about one, visibility was reduced to a hundred meters and the wind was trying to peel us off the mountain. The nearest weather station at Mt Hotham put the average windspeed on the day at 78kmph with gusts of 120kmph.

It was worth it for that little moment of calm though.
